Jos Verstappen, father of two-time Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen, has expressed his frustration with Red Bull Racing following a noticeable decline in the team’s performance in recent races. After a dominant start to the season, Red Bull has recently struggled, with McLaren overtaking them in the constructors’ championship standings.

This performance slump has prompted Jos to voice his concerns about the team’s current form. Red Bull appeared set for another season of dominance, particularly after a strong showing in the opening rounds of the 2024 season. However, as the races progressed, their early momentum diminished.

In the last seven Grand Prix races, Red Bull has failed to secure a win, allowing McLaren to seize control of the constructors' championship. This shift has caused unease in the Verstappen camp, with Jos openly criticizing Red Bull for their missteps.

Speaking to Racexpress, Jos Verstappen did not mince words, stating that Red Bull had “screwed up” following the promising start they had. He emphasized that the drop in form is particularly concerning because of how well the team had initially performed. “Especially when you see how things went at the beginning of the season and how things are going now, then they (Red Bull) screwed up pretty bad,” Jos remarked.

When will Red Bull roll out new upgrades?

Red Bull is reportedly planning to introduce upgrades ahead of the United States Grand Prix to regain its competitive edge. However, Jos Verstappen himself seems cautiously optimistic, preferring to wait for the results before making any conclusions. “We will see. I want to see the results and then I can answer you,” Jos commented.

Despite Red Bull's struggles in the constructors' battle, Max Verstappen still maintains a comfortable 59-point lead over McLaren’s Lando Norris in the drivers' championship. However, Jos remains vigilant, cautioning that the situation could quickly change if Red Bull doesn’t improve. “Only something has to happen, and it does become very exciting. You have to pay attention, the results have to come anyway,” Jos warned.
