2024 MotoGP world champion Jorge Martin has chosen the most dangerous number in MotoGP and that is #1. No surprise, Martin is the world champ and is allowed to have Number One on his bike. But many believe that #1 is a curse in MotoGP. The Aprilia MotoGP team has revealed their 2025 season bike in Milan along with their rider and MotoGP world champion Jorge Martin. The Spaniard was the first independent world champion in the MotoGP era since Valentino Rossi.

The 26-year-old rider was riding for the Prima Pramac Racing team in a GP24 Ducati bike. He won the title against the Ducati Factory racing team’s Francesco Bagnaia. The Italian was a two-time world champion and failed in his third attempt. Martin won the title with a Ducati bike but Aprilia will be the beneficiary of keeping number 1 without winning the championship.

Jorge Martin will team up with Marco BBezzecchi, who comes from the VR46 team to Aprilia. Welcoming two ex-Ducati riders will give Aprilia a clear picture of their rivals and could help them win the championship this year. Aprilia RS-GP24 was not the fastest bike, as it was behind the Ducati and KTM.

The #1 curse

The number One brings a lot of prestige and represents a big achievement. But it doesnt guarantee any further success as everything starts from O. Martin who used to ride with #89 on his bike and has now come with #1 on his RS GP25 bike. Previously Niki Hayden, Jorge Lorenzo and Casey Stoner raced with the Number One on their bikes but none defended their titles. Lorenzo even switched back to his original number #99. After that, Marc Marquez won 6 titles but stuck with his #93.

Even Joan Mir and Fabio Qartararo stuck with their own numbers. Everyone fears taking the #1 on the bikes, as they feel it is a curse that makes them go out of form. But now Martin has arrived with the #1 on his bike showing bravery and confidence. Can the Spaniard break the #1 Jinx this year? Let's find out this year.
