The Malaysian MotoGP Sprint race turned completely upside down for the reigning world champion Francesco Bagnaia after crashing mid-way during the 10-lap Sprint race. The Malaysian GP qualifying was over after Bagnaia smashed the Sepang international circuit's all-time qualifying record. The qualifying session was considered one of the greatest sessions this year as both the championship contenders set great lap times battling and pushing each other to their limits.

The Italian rider came on top with a new lap record by breaking his earlier record which he set during the 2023 campaign. The Sprint race started with Jorge Martin and Bagnaia both having a good start but on the first corner, Martin was ahead of the Ducati rider.
The Ducati rider was trailing behind the Prima Pramca rider and in just two laps the reigning world champion crashed at the corner ending up in the gravels which also ended his sprint race. After the crash now Bagnaia is more vulnerable and he must finish at least 2nd in tomorrow's main race to keep his championship hopes alive until the next race.
This will be no regular #TissotSprint gold medal!

Second place was taken by none other than 6-time world champion Marc Marquez who will move to Ducati as teammate of Bagnaia replacing Bastianini. Marc Marquez started in the second row but was very quick to come to third place next to Bagnaia in the first corner.
He was followed by Ducati rider Enea Bastianini who finished third after having a troublesome weekend in Malaysia. Alex Marquez lost his third position and ended in fourth keeping Fabio Quartararo and Franco Morbidelli behind him all race.
KTM riders Brad Binder and Jack Miller finished seventh and eighth in the race scoring some valuable points for the Austrian Team. Red Bull Gas Gas Tech 3 rider Pedro Acosta and VR 46 rider Marco Bezzecchi completed the race in ninth and tenth places.

If Jorge Martin wins tomorrow, Pecco Bagnaia must finish 2nd to take the title fight to the finale #MalaysianGP 🇲🇾 | #TheRematch 🏆 pic.twitter.com/HHyypHEMTY
Tomorrow's race will be very big as it could be the day when Jorge Martin wins his first-ever MotoGP championship. The Prima Parmac Racing and Ducati Factory Racing teams use GP24 engines which are the most powerful race machines at this year's MotoGP.
Having won the Malaysian GP Sprint race, Jorge Martin has now moved an inch closer to lifting this year's Riders world championship. Pecco Bagnaia will be devastated after the crash and he will be fighting hard to win tomorrow's race or at least finish second.
