Uttar Pradesh gears up to host the prestigious MotoGP event annually in Noida until 2029, as announced by the state government in collaboration with Spain's Dorna Sports and its Indian partner, Fairstreet Sports. The inaugural event under this renewed agreement is scheduled for January 2025, after being postponed from 2024 due to weather considerations.

The state government, through its Invest UP department, will allocate Rs 80 crore annually to cover the licensing fee for Dorna Sports, aiming to boost the region's sports and tourism sector. However, this decision comes amid ongoing allegations of financial mismanagement against Fairstreet Sports stemming from the 2023 MotoGP event held at Greater Noida's Buddh International Circuit.

Fairstreet Sports is currently under investigation by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (Yeida) for allegedly failing to pay over Rs 30 crore to vendors involved in the 2023 event. Yeida, the overseeing body of the circuit, has warned of blacklisting Fairstreet Sports if dues remain unsettled.

A tripartite agreement between Dorna Sports, Fairstreet Sports, and Invest UP will be signed to organize the event. Invest UP will raise funds through sponsorships and various agencies to cover the total annual cost estimated at Rs 150 crore. The government plans to manage finances through an escrow account for sponsorship and ticketing revenues, with Invest UP covering any additional funds required beyond the initial Rs 80 crore.
