MotoGP: Enea Bastianini hands Ducati their 100th win at Emilia Romagna GP amid controversy, Marquez finishes third
Enea Bastianini overtook race leader Jorge Martin in the final lap pushing him out of the track. Marc Marquez of the Gresini racing team finished third in the race.
Ducati won their 100th premier class race as the Ducati Lenovo team's Bastianini won the Emilia Romagna GP. In the final lap of the race, Bastianini Overtook the race leader Jorge Martin forcing him out of the track. This Looked like a controversial win but no further action was taken and Bastianini was announced as the winner. Former world champion Marc Marquez finished third. Ducati took the constructors title in 2024.
The race started after sprint qualifying as Ducati Lenovo team Francesco Bagnaia took the pole position. He was followed by Prima Pramac racing teams Jorge Martin and Ducati’s E. Bastianini. Gresini racing team's Marquez started fourth followed by Acosta of Red Bull Gas Gas Tech 3 racing team. At the start of the first lap, KTM Factory racing team Brad Binder crashed out and lost position. Race leader Bagnaia also struggling with his grip lost his position to Jorge Martin and his teammate Bastianini.
He started first but lost position and was riding in the third position keeping behind Gresini racing team Marq Marquez. With just 15 laps to go at the Emilia Romagna GP Red Bull Gas Gas Tech3 rider Acosta crashed out by sliding away slipping his valuable points for the team. And then the big drama happened as Bagnaia got locked up with just 7 laps to go and crashed his bike ending his race and good chance to be at the pole position for Ducati.
Controversy happened in the final lap of the race. Jorge Martin was leading and Bastianini came hard at him in the corner pushing him out of the track. Martin seemed complaining to the stewards and Bastianini finished the race as number 1 amid controversy. The Ducati Team celebrated their 100th Race win in the premier class with a t-shirt of every key member of the iconic racing team. Marc Marquez got the third and final spot on the pole as Bagnaia crashed out of the race.
