Marc Marquez has made history once again, clinching back-to-back victories after a three-year drought by triumphing at the 2024 San Marino MotoGP. This marks a significant moment for the Spanish rider, who last achieved consecutive wins in 2021. His victory in San Marino comes just a week after securing his first Ducati win, ending a wait of over 1,000 days.
The Gresini Ducati rider's masterful performance has now brought him firmly into contention for the championship title, sitting 53 points behind leader Jorge Martin. Starting from ninth on the grid, Marquez capitalized on a brief rain shower to propel himself into the lead, showcasing his skill in adapting to changing conditions.

Francesco Bagnaia, the reigning champion, secured second place, while Enea Bastianini claimed the final spot on the podium. Bagnaia's second-place finish was crucial, as it closed the gap between him and Martin to just seven points in the championship standings, creating a significant shift in the title race.
Jorge Martin continues to struggle
Jorge Martin, who had started the race with a strong lead in the championship, faced a major setback after a risky pit-stop decision during the rain. Martin, who had earlier moved into third behind Bagnaia and Franco Morbidelli, saw his title advantage diminish as he struggled to recover from the pit-stop mishap.
While Bagnaia and the frontrunners opted to stay out, Martin pitted after lap 7, a decision that ultimately cost him valuable time as the rain quickly cleared. Rejoining the race a lap down, Martin finished a distant 15th, scoring just a single point.
Bagnaia, nursing soreness from a previous collision with Alex Marquez, maintained a solid performance but was unable to challenge Marquez for the win in the final laps. Bastianini, who also rode a strategic race, secured a safe third place as the race settled.
