Formula 1 superstar and seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton is set to make his acting debut. Mercedes driver who is currently struggling with his form in Formula 1 grid is looking to make his acting debut with one of the most expensive movies ever.
Hamilton is helping in the production of the movie called 'Apex'. It stars Brad Pitt as an experienced F1 driver who comes back to help a young talent, played by Damson Idris. Hamilton, who is 39 years old, will also have a small cameo in the film.
The movie is going to cost more than £240 million because of Hollywood strikes last year, COVID delays, and using real race cars and famous actors. It's going to be one of the most expensive films ever made, ranking around 12th place alongside big hits like Star Wars: The Last Jedi, DC's Justice League, and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End.
"This movie needs to be authentic", says Lewis Hamilton
The Mercedes superstar who is poised to drive Ferrari in the next season of Formula 1, Hamilton is looking to make the film as authentic as possible. He has asked his friend Joseph Kosinski, the director of the successful movie Top Gun: Maverick, to direct the film.
Earlier Hamilton spoke about being authentic while voicing an anime character. He had said, "My point was, 'Guys, this movie needs to be so authentic'. There are two different fan groups that we have - like, the old originals, who from the day they're born hear the Grand Prix music every weekend and watch it with their families, and the new generation that just learned about it today through Netflix.”
"I felt my job has been to try to call BS. 'This would never happen'. 'This is how it would be'. 'This is how it could happen'. Just giving them advice about what racing is really about and what, as a racing fan, would appeal and what would not”, he further added.
