Formula 1 legend and seven-time F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton has officially made his track debut for Ferrari in Barcelona, Spain. The British driver previously tested the ‘Prancing Horse’ at their home track in Maranello. This time they tested the car on a real F1 track, the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. This is the second time Hamilton has done a track test with the Ferrari. After nearly 13 years of partnership with Mercedes, Hamilton announced that he would leave the team by the end of the 2024 season.
He chose Ferrari as his next team, and the news became sensational, surging the brand's market share to 6% in just one day. This is the biggest signing for Ferrari after Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel, which were done in 1995 and 2014. Lewis's test was done with a 2023 spec Ferrari car and his teammate Charles Leclerc was also present. Barcelona is the favourite place for many racing teams, as they often choose the track for testing their new cars because of its multi-dimensional design and layout.

The track has high-speed and low-speed corners, which are essential for any car. Charles tested for the first half and Hamilton took over from him in the afternoon. The two drivers will be present in Barcelona for two more days and do a private test. Lewis Hamilton's biggest challenge during his testing in Maranello was with the cockpit and pedal adjustments. He also had trouble learning the steering wheel settings and adjusting to the car's handling. Testing previous cars was only allowed for 1000 km, and they still have 800 km left for testing.
Ferrari will be doing tyre testing on February 4 and 5 along with McLaren with the new Pirelli 2026 regulation tyres. We also expect Hamilton to test the modified version of the 2024 Ferrari car under Pirelli's guidance. The 2025 Formula 1 cars will be launched on February 18 in the F1 75 event at the O2 arena in London. Ferrari will launch their 2025 F1 cars in Maranello’s Fiorano testing track before the Tifosi. Pre-season testing will begin on February 27 in Sakhir Circuit, Bahrain.
