The 7-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton has officially become a Ferrari driver as he joins the team at their headquarters in Maranello, Italy. The entire F1 world is awaiting to see the legend in Ferrari colours and it has happened finally with Hamilton moving to Italy.
Lewis Hamilton the Ferrari Driver
The F1 Legend himself shared a picture of him standing between the iconic door of the Enzo Ferrari's house in Maranello. He posted on his Instagram saying “There are some days that you know you’ll remember forever and today, my first as a Ferrari driver, is one of those days.”
Lewis added “I’ve been lucky enough to have achieved things in my career I never thought possible, but part of me has always held on to that dream of racing in red. I couldn't be happier to realise that dream today. Today we start a new era in the history of this iconic team, I can't wait to see what story we will write together.”
The legendary F1 driver for the first time in his life and career has moved away from the UK to Italy. In 2024 he signed for Ferrari over a multi-year deal which shook the market and the brand's share value skyrocketed to 6% growth in a single day earning them a billion dollars.
Even Mercedes haven't earned this much keeping Lewis Hamilton all these years. Lewis has just turned 40 and Ferrari could be his final team in Formula 1 before he announces retirement. Hamilton wants his 8th world championship and that's the reason he chose to come to Ferrari from Mercedes.
In the last few years the Maranello team has progressed drastically higher compared with Mercedes and last year they beat Red Bull and finished in second place next to McLaren in the constructors championship. They needed the best drivers and they got Lewis and Charles who could take care of the rest. If Ferrari could give them the best machine the two will bring their long-awaited world championship. Ferrari last won the driver's title in 2007 and the constructor's in 2008.
