Following hefty penalties in Miami Grand Prix, Kevin Magnussen might face ban

Autosport: Kevin Magnussen might face ban after his hefty penalties in the Miami Grand Prix. The Haas driver had an accident involving Logan Sargeant at Turn 2 on Lap 28.

Kevin Magnussen might be on the verge of sustaining a ban following the penalties he endured after the recently concluded Miami Grand Prix. The Haas driver, unfortunately, had contact with Logan Sargeant on the 28th Lap of the race at Turn 2, which led to tipping the Williams into the barrier. In turn, it led to triggering the safety car which had a massive impact on the race. Later in the race, Lando Norris ended up claiming his maiden win in the Grand Prix.

Sargeant tried to take a lead in the race desperately around Turn 2, but Magnussen attempted to take advantage away from the opponent by getting close to his car. After the race, both were summoned for an inquiry. Kevin initially got a penalty of two points for the collision.

The judges felt Kevin was responsible for the collision. In the last 12 months, the Haas driver has had 10 penalties to his name. Three of them came against Lewis Hamilton where he aimed to finish in the eighth spot. The Dane was handed a total of five penalties on the weekend in his race which saw troubles for opponents for about 65 seconds. 

All penalties of Kevin Magnussen

In total, Magnussen picked a total of eight penalties in the entire weekend of the Miami Grand Prix 2024. He bagged a 10-second penalty for leaving the track and gaining an advantage in the sprint against Lewis Hamilton. For his act in the race, Magnussen was handed three penalty points. He was additionally handed five penalty points for leaving the track without a justifiable reason.

In the Miami Grand Prix incident against Logan, he sustained a 10-second time penalty for the collision. He additionally gained two penalty points for the collision against Sargeant. He bagged a drive-through penalty which was converted to a 20-second time penalty. The reason behind it was entering the pits behind the safety car and not changing the tyres. With so many penalties, he might be banned from the next race.
