Is Haas F1 the best diverse team? First Female race engineer for Ocon

The American Formula 1 team has shown the best diversity among all the teams on the grid. During the post-season testing session, Esteban Ocon is guided by their race engineer, Laura Muller. Rumours are circulating that she could potentially be Ocon's race engineer for next season.

Haas will become the first team to have a female race engineer who speaks over the radio for the entire season and guides the driver. Formula 1 is pushing the boundaries towards diversity in the sport. They already have a women's racing program called 'F1 Academy'. Each team will have a female driver, and they compete in racing. Many teams already have women employees working closely with the drivers, from the technical team to the media.

Coming back to Laura Muller, she is a German and a performance engineer for the Haas team. She is one of the key minds behind Haas's late surge in the 2024 Formula 1 season. They have high hopes for the next season because of the new Toyota partnership, where they could use the Japanese brand's facilities to develop their cars.

Esteban Ocon and Ollie Bearman were the newcomers to the team. Nico Hulkenberg and Kevin Magnussen drove for Haas in the 2024 season. They had Mark Slade and Gary Gannon as their race engineers. Now, Mark has left the team, so the next senior there is Laura Muller, who could be the race engineer for Ocon next year.

If it's real, the Haas team will be a true example of women's empowerment in Motorsports. And many F1 teams could soon follow their path. Esteban and Laura seemed to be in sync during the testing session. She is a real talent, no doubt about that. During her childhood, she wanted to become a Formula One driver and race against Michael Schumacher. Previously, she was the race engineer for Sophia Florsch.

The Haas F1 team finished 7th in the constructors championship after fighting hard with the Alpine F1 team. Next year, they will have Esteban Ocon and Olliver Bearman as their new drivers, replacing Magnussen and Hulkenberg. The American team is the youngest team on the grid with a small budget. But their achievements so far in Formula 1 are far bigger and exceeded expectations.
