Imola GP 2024 FP3 results: McLaren duo Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris dominate while Max Verstappen struggle

In the third Free Practice session of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix 2024 at the Imola circuit McLaren duo of Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris clinched top two positions on timesheet. Piastri hit 1:15:529 on Saturday while Norris was three-tenths slower than his teammate. 

Going ahead Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz clinched third position while his teammate Charles Leclerc clinched fourth position. After some struggles, Mercedes driver George Russell was fifth fastest on the track. The struggle  Max Verstappen continues to struggle at Imola as he finished sixth after failing on a flying lap when his teammate struck the wall. 

Fernando Alonso and Sergio Perez pulled out red flags during FP3!

During the second day of the 2024 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix at the Imola circuit, Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso suffered a crash during Free Practice Session 3. Despite his extensive experience on the track, Alonso's incident caused the second red flag of the weekend. 

As a result of the crash, the Aston Martin team had to forgo their lunch break. The car exhibited understeer as Alonso approached Turn 18 at Rivazza. Despite attempting to correct his trajectory, Alonso's car veered wide and grazed the curve, leading to an unavoidable collision with the barriers as he ended up reversing into them.
