Red Bull Formula 1 driver Sergio Perez finally lashed out at his critics over his retirement call which is raising at an alarming rate for the driver in the past few months. The recent times have been very troublesome for Perez as he couldn’t find his form. For the past few years, Red Bull has been very dominant in the Formula 1 grid. Now even his team Red Bull lost its form and seems very dull right now. They haven't won a single race since June 2024. They are having some balance issues and struggling with floor issues in their car.

Though Max Verstappen still is the world championship leader his teammate Sergio Perez is sitting in the eighth place which is a very unlikely situation for Red Bull as they could lose the Constructors title to McLaren this year. Many argued Sergio Perez should retire from Formula 1 as some other could occupy the Red Bull seat. But after all the controversy and criticism, the Mexican Formula 1 driver has opened up about his side finally.

'Don't want to be Alonso' - Sergio Perez.

He said “These last six months I thought about it, but it took me three seconds to make the decision. In the end, would be the easy route, after so many years, to leave and in a way give up. I would never have forgiven myself for it.

I want to finish my career when I want and not when someone tells me to. That is my main focus: to get to the point where I can decide my future. For now, I am very motivated, the truth is, I really want to continue in F1. I enjoy it. Especially the good moments you enjoy a lot, but you also learn to enjoy the bad ones.”

He says he still has two years left in his contract and it's a very long time in F1. He also admitted he has children with whom he wants to spend time and he doesn't want to become like Fernando Alonso who retired and again made a comeback.
