The reigning world champion Max Verstappen had a very bad race at Mexico City as he was given a 20-second penalty for exceeding track limits and pushing rival Lando Norris off the track with some dangerous driving. In Austin, Lando Norris received the same kind of Penalty for exceeding track limits and gaining an advantage over Max verstappen. But this time it was Verstappen who was punished for crossing track limits.

'I don't cry for that' - Max Verstappen

But the world champion doesn't seem to care about getting a penalty by the FIA. After the race, Verstappen reflected on his race and penalties. He said “20 seconds is a lot, but im not going to cry about it, and I'm also not going to share my opinion.

The biggest problem that I have is that today was a bad day in terms of race pace. That was quite clear again, on the mediums and the hard tyres. The problem is that we are too slow and that is why I'm being put in those kinds of positions. That was my problem.”

The race was won by Ferrari driver Carlos sainz after he charged at max Verstappen after the safety car period. He regained his lost Pole position back from Verstappen by attacking him on the main straights. Lando Norris then battled with Max which eventually got him the penalties.

Leclerc utilized the opportunity to get past Max and Lando during their battle but lost his position to Lando Norris in the final few laps of the race. The Spaniard won the race which is only his fourth time in Formula 1 career. Verstappen compared this weekend with the United States Grand Prix and he felt the US GP was better to drive than the Mexican Grand Prix. Lando Norris reduced Max Verstappen's title lead by 47 points and there is still 4 more races to go in this years Formula 1 calendar.
