Why he is a GOAT in F1

Whether you agree or not, Formula 1 has always been a European sport, though it has achieved international status. It has long been dominated by Europeans, and people from other parts of the world didn't get the recognition that Europeans got from the brands. For people of colour, it is even more difficult. Lewis Hamilton is the first driver of colour to race in Formula 1.

It was also the same story for Lewis Hamilton as for every other person of colour. During his childhood, he was traumatised by racial slurs and abuse, which he has mentioned many times. He overcame all of it and entered Formula 1 in 2007. But that was not the end; in his debut season, he challenged for the title against F1 greats like Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso.Β

Apart from Michael Schumacher, no rookie has given such an impact as Lewis Hamilton during the rookie year. A mistake he made during the Chinese Grand Prix cost him the championship, but he never gave up his fighting spirit. The next year he won the title in Brazil and became the first black driver to win the world championship. That is why he is called the GOAT.

Most number of Everything

Lewis is the only driver to win the most Grand Prix races in Formula 1 history. He beat Michael Schumacher’s 91 Grand Prix wins and surpassed him with 103 race wins. He is also the only driver with the most poles (103), career points, and most consecutive point finishes (2018 to 2020).

7 Formula 1 world titles

2020 was the greatest year for Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes, as no team or driver really challenged them during that season. In the Turkish Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton has put in one of the greatest-ever qualifying laps in F1 under heavy rain and won the race.

He also became the 7-time world champion, equalling F1 legend Michael Schumacher’s title record. Lewis Hamilton is the biggest culprit to breaking many legendary records in Formula 1. We are very eager to see him break even more records this year.

Biggest heartbreak

In the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Lewis was on his way to becoming the eight-time world champion in Formula 1. But race director Michael Massi made a controversial decision and stole his title away from him, and since then he hasn't won any championships. It was his biggest heartbreak in Formula 1, and he will definitely come back to clinch his lost title.

Historic Ferrari Move

In early 2024, Lewis announced a historic move to Ferrari from Mercedes after 13 years of journey. The Italian team was the biggest rival of Lewis Hamilton, and they tried many times beating Hamilton since his debut in 2007. After fighting with him very hard, Ferrari finally gave up and signed Lewis Hamilton as their new driver for the 2025 season. Signing Hamilton brought them 1 billion dollars and 6% share growth in a single day.Β

He is also the oldest Ferrari driver to debut for the team. Lewis with Charles Leclerc makes them a powerhouse and the team to beat this year. Ferrari has been in a title drought since 2008, and we are confident Lewis Hamilton will break the jinx and bring them their long-awaited Formula 1 title. And finally, one more time,Β Happy Birthday, GOAT.
