Happy Birthday Liam Lawson: The Fearless Hyena standing with the Mighty Dutch lion

Today is the 23rd birthday of the fearless and aggressive Liam Lawson, who made the headlines when he was announced as the replacement driver at the Red Bull Racing team. The New Zealander will partner with the mighty Dutch lion Max Verstappen for Red Bull this F1 season. Nobody thought a young man with no experience in F1 would get a seat in Red Bull. However, Liam Lawson has something special that earned him the driver's seat alongside Verstappen for this 2025 season.

Short time and Big Impact

The Man just made his full-time F1 debut at the US Grand Prix after Daniel Ricciardo’s sacking by the VCARB F1 team. He only raced 11 races and scored 6 points but was promoted to Red Bull because of his winning mentality and attitude. Red Bull management wanted a driver with the same fighting spirit as Max Verstappen, and they feel Liam’s got all those qualities in him.

A Fearless Hyena

The biggest attraction of Liam Lawson was his fearless attitude during races. One example is his fight with senior drivers like Fernando Alonso and Sergio Perez. During the United States Grand Prix sprint race, Liam Straight away attacked the most senior man and one of the all-time greats, Fernando Alonso. He didn't back out of the fight even when Fernando argued with him after the race.

During the Mexican Grand Prix, Lawson again attacked a senior driver and this time it was the man from his own team, Sergio Perez. He went neck-to-neck racing with Perez and even damaged his floor. When overtaking, the Mexican Liam showed his middle finger, which became one of the biggest news stories of the race. The New Zealander toyed with the Mexican driver and that too in his home race, showing his real bravery and strength.

Max Verstappen challenge

'The Dutch Lion' is known for his dominance against his teammates over the years. No driver has attained any success against Max as a teammate. Sergio Perez managed to stay 4 years, which is a big achievement for him. Can Liam Lawson sustain the Max Verstappen challenge? That's a big question and we will find answers this year.

But Red Bull doesn’t want any intra-team battles, as they already had enough during the Vettel-Webber era. After that they always kept their two drivers at bay, Daniel Ricciardo tried to challenge Max Verstappen but ended up in many crashes and point losses. Liam Lawson first needs to focus on himself in securing the driver's seat. 

He needs to bring points consistently by finishing inside the top 10 and regular podiums. When he is secured with his place, he can take on Max Verstappen and try to beat him. Being with Max Verstappen, who has the same fearless attitude, will also help Liam to learn a lot about F1 racing and one day he could be the number 1 driver at Red Bull and could also become a world champion.
