Formula 1 secures multi-year deal to keep Belgian Grand Prix on the calendar

Formula 1 has agreed on a multi-year contract with the Belgian Grand Prix. The latter have secured a contract ensuring it’s presence in the Formula 1 calendar from 2026-2031, which is four out of six years.

As per recent reports, Formula 1 has agreed on a multi-year contract with the Belgian Grand Prix. The latter have secured a contract ensuring it’s presence in the Formula 1 calendar from 2026-2031, which is four out of six years. It is very well known that the Formula 1 calendar is extremely crowded, yet Belgian Grand Prix have managed to take part up some space in it.

The Spa-Francorchamps circuit will be hosting the 2026, 2027, 2029 and 2031 races as per the contract, while the 2028 and 2030 slots will likely be replaced by other races. The other venues with Spa are yet to be confirmed. Venues from Spain and Italy are willing to retain their contracts even though their tenure is over.  

Circuit de Barcelona has been replaced with a new circuit in Madrid for the Spanish Grand Prix from the upcoming season. Formula 1 is also of the view to revive the French Grand Prix – given France’s historic role as the birthplace of motorsports, and the German Grand Prix – given Germany is the oldest venues of all-time, in the near future. The deal for Dutch Grand Prix is likely to end on the year 2026, which might be revived by the organizers in the Netherlands.

'One of the finest race tracks in the world'

To the recent contract, the F1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali said, The Belgian Grand Prix was one of the races that made up our maiden championship in 1950, so as we kick off our 75th anniversary year it is fitting that we can share the news of this important extension.” 

“Spa-Francorchamps is rightly lauded by drivers and fans alike as one of the finest race tracks in the world and it has played host to some incredible moments over its many seasons in Formula 1,” he added. 

He further noted that in the recent years, Formula 1 has undergone significant work in order to improve the overall facilities and fan experiences. He also took a moment to pay tribute to the promoters and the Government of Wallonia who have been dedicated and passionate towards supporting F1 and helping in establishing it in Belgium.
