Olivier Bearman spoke about the influence the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix had on him to perform the way he did at the British Grand Prix. The Ferrari sensation had a great race for his age and gave some crucial points for his team. After the race, the 18-year-old spoke in the press conference and claimed that the difference between rookies and veterans isn't that high in Formula 1.
Despite not having a great Formula 2 season, Haas trusted the young driver to perform for them. He proved that the faith his team had in him wasn't false. At 18, Bearman became the third youngest driver in the history. "I think Saudi showed what I was capable of, showed that rookies and people with lack of experience aren't so far behind the normal cohort," said Olivier.
He claimed that the confidence booster for him was his race in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. The rookie claimed that the way his season in Formula 2 went, the Saudi race helped him to gain momentum. "I think I did put a good showing for myself in Saudi, and of course, with the F2 campaign going the way it is, it's hard to ignore that," added Olivier who didn't want to ignore the Saudi Race.
"I'm happy that Saudi happened' - Olivier Bearman
The talented driver is all set to be one of the drivers of Ferrari and Haas in 2025. Given the performance of Kevin Magnussen and the age factor of Bearman, it seemed to be an obvious decision. Even Kevin wasn't surprised when the 18-year-old got a chance to be Ferrari's driver in Silverstone. Moreover, Nico Hulkenberg is likely to make a move to Sauber next year.
Bearman added that he was highly confident during the practice sessions but needed the Saudi race to believe he belonged at the highest level. He credited Saudi for his performance in the British GP. "I still felt that I could do a good job in the free practices, but let's say I'm happy that Saudi happened because I think it's a major contributor to why I'm here right now," concluded Olivier who credited the Saudi race for his finish in Britain.
