2025 Miami Grand Prix Sprint Qualifying session summary

SQ1- The First part of the session was a thriller, full of chaos and confusion among the drivers. George Russell set the fastest lap, followed by Antonelli and Norris. Doohan was very angry with the release of Pierre Gasly ahead of him as he lost his chance to set the fastest lap time. Yuki Tsunoda was also eliminated for the first time in Q1 this year.

Drivers to be eliminated: Oliver Bearman, Gabriel Bortoleto, Yuki Tsunoda, Jack Doohan, Lance Stroll.

SQ2- Lando Norris became the fastest driver ahead of Max Verstappen in the second qualifying. Carlos Sainz's lap time was deleted as he exceeded the track limits, while his teammate Alex Albon moved into the next session by finishing inside the top 10.

Drivers to be eliminated: Carlos Sainz, Liam Lawson, Pierre Gasly, Esteban Ocon, and Nico Hulkenberg.

SQ3- George Russell and Max Verstappen started the qualifying session with the fastest lap times. The British driver entered the 1.26s mark ahead of Verstappen. The Dutch driver missed the apex in turn 8 and lost time against Russell.

But out of nowhere, Kimi Antonelli at just 18 years of age clinched the pole position ahead of senior drivers like Norris, Piastri and Verstappen. This was an outstanding effort from the Italian driver as he became the youngest driver to sit in a pole position in Formula 1 history.

The Mercedes garage celebrated the pole victory, and tomorrow he will start at the front row ahead of the two McLarens and Max Verstappen. This was a massive effort by the young Italian, and he will definitely enjoy the night. Mercedes is back in business, and they will be looking to convert the pole position into a pole victory tomorrow.
