F1 2025 Miami GP FP1 results: Oscar Piastri steers past Leclerc and Verstappen in first session

The first practice session of the 2025 Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix is over, and Oscar Piastri again is leading the table with the fastest lap time ahead of Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc and Red Bull driver Max Verstappen. Though the session ended with a crash, it still allowed the teams and drivers to learn most of it.

Miami GP FP1 session summary

The session started with new parent Max Verstappen leading the grid with the fastest lap time. Very soon, he was dethroned by Mercedes driver George Russell, followed by Kimi Antonelli. Teams usually try various setups for the practice session.

This one is very important because the next session will be the sprint qualifying. The teams don’t have enough time to set their car, as we will head straight to sprint qualifying in a few hours. As the session neared its end, Max again gave his best and finished on P3.

Haas F1 driver Oliver Bearman crashed lately in the session, and the first free practice session of the Miami Grand Prix was over. We expect more action and drama in the Sprint qualifying as the teams will be coming with a more aggressive setup.
