Though he didn't compete for any championship titles, he did a decent job of finishing inside the points table and helped Ferrari reach second place on the grid consistently. But Hamilton’s arrival has shown him the exit doors, and after a hard struggle, he got a driver seat at the Williams Racing team.

Now, he is progressing well this year and Williams are the fifth stringest team in the grid. He and his partner Alex Albon are bringing points to the Williams team consistently, and with this pace, they will soon become one of the top teams in F1.

Ahead of the F1 Miami Grand Prix, Sainz attended the driver's press meet, and there he was asked about the recent struggles of Lewis Hamilton driving for Ferrari. Sainz warned Hamilton that reaching the level of Leclerc could take a long time.

The Seven-time world champion wanted to win a Formula 1 title with the Maranello-based team. But he is still not comfortable with the car and is struggling to find pace. Though he is behind his teammate Charles Leclerc in all the races, he won the Chinese GP sprint race.

Carlos Sainz on Hamilton's Struggle with Ferrari

Sainz said he is not surprised by Hamilton, as he expected him to struggle with Ferrari before the season. Carlos said, “I’m not surprised at all. I expected it for myself, and I expected it with him. Because when you are up against two teammates like we are, Alex and Charles, they know the team inside out, and they are already performing at the maximum that that car can perform.”

The Spaniard says that entering a new team and immediately coming ahead of a teammate who has already spent many years with the team is difficult. He added, “When you jump to a new team and you're expected by yourself and by everyone around you to be at that level, you know it's going to take time. They know a lot more than you. It's going to take a bit of time, and the sooner you make that process and the sooner you are at that level, the better.”

Sainz also advised that patience is the key to success, and it takes time to learn a lot more about a car before winning races. As Carlos Sainz predicts, it will take half a year for Hamilton to adapt to the Ferrari car before winning races and beating Charles Leclerc.
