Qualifying session

Q1 – The session was a disappointment for Oliver Bearman, as he was the slowest driver at the end and was eliminated. The two Red Bull drivers came very late and were under pressure to perform, and somehow they managed to enter the Q2 session.

Drivers to be eliminated: Lance Stroll, Oliver Bearman, Alex Albon, Liam Lawson, and Gabriel Bortoleto.

Q2 – Esteban Ocon opened the session with a massive crash, which ended his Q2. He spun at the exit of the second corner and was out. Max Verstappen and Yuki struggled, but they managed to put the RB21 car into the next session.

Drivers to be eliminated: Fernando Alonso, Jack Doohan, Esteban Ocon, Nico Hülkenberg and Isack Hadjar.

Q3 – Verstappen was unusually slow compared with his teammate Yuki Tsunoda in the first out lap. Mercedes driver George Russell had a great start to the final qualifying session and came second, splitting the two McLarens. But Oscar Piastri emerged out of nowhere and set the fastest lap. Lando Norris was shocked with a P6 finish just ahead of Max Verstappen.

Charles Leclerc also had a great lap and finished P3, while his teammate, Lewis Hamilton, only managed to finish in P9 ahead of Yuki Tsunoda. Alpine driver Pierre Gasly was outstanding and finished in P5. Oscar Piastri, George Russell and Charles Leclerc were the podium contenders. Tomorrow’s race will be exciting as Lando Norris and Max Verstappen will have a close battle at the start.
