Charles Leclerc excelled under pressure to secure pole position for the Monaco Grand Prix. As the favourite for Saturday's qualifying in Monte Carlo, the Monegasque star kept his composure to claim the top spot. Leclerc edged out McLaren’s Oscar Piastri by 0.154 seconds, with Ferrari teammate Carlos Sainz in third and Lando Norris in fourth.
Max Verstappen, aiming for a record ninth consecutive pole, only managed sixth after hitting the wall at Sainte Devote's exit. George Russell and Lewis Hamilton will start on either side of Verstappen, having qualified fifth and seventh respectively for Mercedes. Despite Leclerc’s previous struggles to convert pole positions into victories in Monte Carlo, he remains the strong favourite to win on the challenging 2.1-mile course where overtaking is notoriously difficult.
