Carlos Sainz slammed with 25000 Euros fine after crashing at Singapore GP Qualifying

Carlos Sainz crossed the track during the red flag, so his fine was half the amount that was slammed on Hamilton last year. Hamilton was fined 50000 euros.

Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz crashed at the Singapore GP Qualifiers in the final corner. Carlos Sainz was ready to pickup pace in his Ferrari as he waited for Oscar Piastri to pass through. But the Ferrari’s tyres were very cold and started to lose grip at the backend and Sainz slid and slammed straight into the wall ending his qualifying session.

Sainz came out of the car unhurt, the session was red flagged and he walked across the race track to the pit lane. But now, a new trouble has hit the Ferrari driver as he was fined for walking on the track unsafely.

Carlos Sainz Pays the price for walking

FIA Investigated the matter and the Spaniard was fined 25 thousand euros for walking unsafely on the track. 12500 euros were suspended on the condition that there would be in no similar situation for the rest of the season.

The Ferrari driver spoke about the incident after the qualifying session got completed. He said, “I had a bit of strange exit in there. Had to let a lot of cars through opening my lap and my tyres were just a lot colder than I thought they would be. I misjudged the grip on the bump on 17, which completely snapped at me. This is the Driver's mistake.

"I underestimated the grip I would get launching the lap- I was already under pressure with another car coming, and I knew that launching the lap I was already going to be slower because of the…. Approaching the last corner is so slow. So it meant that i tried to do something that there was not enough grip to do.”

The same kind of incident happened during the Qatar Grand Prix last year when Lewis Hamilton was fined 50000 euros half of which suspended for the rest of the year. Hamilton got tangled with George Russell into turn 1 which broke his rear wing and ended his race.

Hamilton crossed the live circuit to the pitlane just seconds before Russel emerged from the pits. The FIA explained Sainz's penalty was half of Hamilton's because Sainz crossed the track during the red flag. Sainz also said he was beyond pit entry so it would not make much difference.
