McLaren driver Lando Norris finished second while pole position holder George Russell finished third just five tens ahead of his teammate Lewis Hamilton. Both Mercedes were very competitive as they dominated the second half of the race on regular tyres but failed to go past the top two.
Two Williams crashed out of the Canadian Grand Prix
Williams’ driver Logan Sargeant's Canadian Grand Prix took a dramatic turn as he crashed on the wet tarmac, triggering a safety car period. The American driver, struggling with the intermediate tyres and rainy conditions, slid off earlier in the race without damage. On Lap 25, Sargeant lost control on Turn 4, hitting the wall and ending his race prematurely.
Later, another incident saw Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon collide, leading to another safety car deployment. Sainz spun and reversed on track, striking Albon's Williams and sending it into the wall. Both drivers retired from the race, with Sainz's exit marking the second Ferrari retirement following Charles Leclerc's earlier engine struggles.
