Carlos Sainz played a huge role in Alex Albon’s 2025 Australian GP race, the British racer stunned everyone by finishing P5 ahead of Nico Hulkenberg, Charles Leclerc, Oscar Piastri, and Lewis Hamilton. The Race was a hit and many drivers and teams struggled to find the right strategy. Even the race leaders, Lando Norris, and Oscar Piastri slid through the gravel and lost their momentum in between the race. Norris evaded the disaster but the hometown boy Piastri was unlucky as he got stuck in the grass and lost lots of time and position.
He was brave enough to reverse his car, and get back onto the track and finish P9, which is something to cheer for him in his home race. Many drivers weren't lucky, as Iscak Hadjar, Jack Doohan, Carlos Sainz, Fernando Alonso, Gabriel Bortoleto, and Liam Lawson lost their cars and crashed heavily on the walls.
One of the biggest highlights of the race was Carlos Sainz's role in the Williams team. Eventhough he crashed out of the race he didn’t go to his room, rather he sat with the team principal and strategy team and saw the race. When the two McLarens collapsed on the corners, Sainz was the first to call for a tyre change and the Williams team immediately listened to his call and changed Alex Albon’s tyres to intermediates. This saved Albon’s car in the rain and benefitted the team with lots of points.

Team Principal James Vowels was very vocal about Carlos Sainz’s role as a team player and even appreciated his efforts to keep the team ahead of him. The Spaniard has now spoken about the events that happened during the F1 Australian GP. Sainz said “The moment the McLarens went off, I didn’t have a headset or anything, I just started shouting, ‘Box, Please. Box, It’s time to box now.’ It was fun.” Alex Albon was pitted on time and because of that Williams was successful at the end of the race as he finished P5. Carlos Sainz will be back in action this week at the F1 Chinese Grand Prix.
