Azerbaijan GP FP1 Results: Max Verstappen back to lead as Red Bull comes with Floor upgrade

Red Bull is back finding its pace as both Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez came inside the top three in the first free practice session of the Azerbaijan GP. Mercedes Lewis Hamilton is the only other driver clinching the second spot. 

The Azerbaijan GP Opened on its first day with the first free practice session. Ferrari's Charles Leclerc the winner of the Italian GP was very impressive with the medium tyres in his first run, but he slid into the wall at turn 15 bringing the red flags out. 

When switched to soft tyres Red Bull’s Max Verstappen the current championship leader was very impressive as he set the fastest lap of the session at 1.45.546. He was followed by Mercedes Lewis Hamiton who was 0.313s behind Max Verstappen. Red Bulls Sergio Perez came third as he was 0.376s behind his teammate. 

Red Bull has brought in some upgrades to its floor which assured both the Red Bull drivers finding balance and pace. Mclarens Lando Norris sitting second in the championship points came fourth followed by Ferrari's Carlos Sainz and Lando's teammate Oscar Piastri. 

Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso came seventh overcoming Mercedes George Russel and Ferrari's Charles Leclerc. Daniel Riccardo finished 10th a second quicker than his teammate Yuki Tsunoda. Haas's replacement for Kevin Magnussen Ollie Bearman had a strong run and came 11th 0.162s quicker than his teammate Nico Hulkenberg who finished 12th. 

Lance Stroll couldn't find balance in his car he ended up 13th. Sauber's Valtteri Bottas finished 14th ahead of Yuki Tsunoda. William's driver Franco Colapinto was showing impressive speed in his practice run but at turn 4 he slid into the wall. He finished 16th in the session. Alpine driver Piere Gasly was down to 18th and his teammate Esteban Ocon failed to set any lap time. Ocon reported having power loss as he recovered from the pits his session was already over.
