A day before the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix at the Imola circuit Red Bull Racing’s chief technical officer Adrian Newey spoke about his future. Newey who is set to leave Red Bull in early 2025 revealed that he might join another team to continue working with Formula 1.
Earlier this month, the announcement of Adrian Newey's departure from his long-held position as Red Bull sent shockwaves through the Formula 1 community. In a recent interview with his manager, Eddie Jordan, the renowned former F1 team boss, Newey shared insights.
While speaking with Eddie he said, “Seriously considering changing teams, going somewhere else and doing another four or five years or whatever. I feel a little bit tired at the moment, but at some point, I’ll probably go again.”
Will Adrian Newey make a comeback to Williams?
Widely acclaimed as the most accomplished F1 designer in the sport's history, Newey refrained from disclosing his next career move. However, speculation has been rife regarding his potential transition to Ferrari, with reports indicating discussions between the esteemed designer and the Italian powerhouse.
Despite widespread anticipation that Ferrari might secure Newey's services, the team has chosen to remain tight-lipped on the matter, neither confirming nor denying the rumours. Zak Brown, the CEO of McLaren Racing, has hinted at the possibility of recruiting Adrian Newey.
He stated "Never say never" regarding the renowned designer. Meanwhile, James Vowles, the team principal of Williams, disclosed having a casual conversation with Newey, although he described it as a light exchange. On the other hand, Aston Martin has been rumoured to extend an offer to Newey, despite official denials from the team.
Having secured an early release from his contract with Red Bull, Newey is poised to commence work with a new team in early 2025. This timing aligns strategically with the introduction of new technical regulations in Formula 1 for the 2026 season, allowing Newey to exert significant influence on the design of his new team's car.
