Following the intense title showdown of 2021 it’s safe to say that Toto Wolff and Christian Horner are not on good terms given their frequent verbal exchanges on various topics. However, during the Miami Grand Prix weekend, McLaren CEO Zak Brown sparked the latest dispute between the Mercedes and Red Bull leaders. It came with a casual remark during the FIA Press Conference, shifting the focus away from Wolff momentarily.

Speaking about the departure of Adrian Newey, Brown said that he is not surprised with the latest development. "Am I surprised? Six months ago, I would have been surprised. I think given everything that's gone on since the start of the year and knowing Adrian pretty well, and he's a very high-integrity individual, I'm not surprised he's moving on,he told media.

"The stuff that's going on a bit is destabilisingIt's probably the first domino to fall. My guess is not the last based on the resumes that are flying around. People want to work for people like Adrian Newey and work alongside him.”

"I think they will be missing what he brings to the team from a purely technical point of view, and then I think the leadership and the excitement people get from working with him will be missed”, he further added.

“We are seeing Red Bull CVs”, says Toto Wolff

However, Toto Wolff remained somewhat optimistic despite Brown's remarks directed towards him, opting to validate the assertion by McLaren's CEO. Nevertheless, he chose not to exacerbate the situation, redirecting his attention towards addressing Mercedescurrent challenges and strategizing on how to elevate the team to a position capable of winning races and contending for championships.

He said, "Zak is correct, we are seeing Red Bull CVs through all the levels. But I would say that this is nothing out of the ordinary, people change teams and want to change the environment, so I've come to the point where I'm not interested in what is going on there with the leadershipI'm not listening to anything anymore.

"It is important for us to look at our team, see how we can develop strong people, get some interesting, competent people from other teams into Mercedes, and provide them with an exciting journey to recovery”, he further added.
