On the September 1 episode of WWE Raw, Becky Lynch slapped CM Punk and humiliated him. The Man stood up for her husband, Seth Rollins, the night after delivering him a low blow at Clash in Paris. On September 5, WWE SmackDown will take place in Chicago, Punk's hometown, where Lee could return and confront The Women's Intercontinental Champion.

On WWE Raw after Clash in Paris, Punk expected to confront Seth, but instead got Becky. The Man came out to her husband's theme and went on to have a promo, claiming Punk affected her matches as the fans chanted his name during her matches.

Seth came out and challenged Punk to get to him by passing Lynch's challenge. The Women's IC Champion went on to slap Punk multiple times and ensured Rollins escaped from the arena. The Second City Saint claimed Seth would regret cashing in his MITB Contract on him, and Becky would regret slapping him, and went out of the arena.

Will AJ Lee return on WWE SmackDown in Chicago?

Backstage in the La Defense Arena, Punk met Adam Pearce and addressed his segment with The Man. He asked where SmackDown would take place later this week. As the Raw GM noted, it was in Chicago, Punk had a smile and claimed he knew exactly what to do. While Pearce did not get what Punk meant, the fans cheered.

Since then, there have been rumors about Punk referring to AJ Lee's return on WWE SmackDown later this week. There's a good chance of it happening, potentially leading to a mixed tag team match between Seth and Becky against Punk and Lee at Wrestlepalooza on the 20th of September 2025.
