The main event of night two of WrestleMania XL between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes was one of the best matches in the history of Wrestling. The sheer fact that many stars like John Cena, The Undertaker, The Rock, The Usos, and Solo Sikoa were involved makes it an event. However, it was not the original plan to carry out.

The original plan was to have a match between Roman and The Rock. After Cody Rhodes won the Men's Royal Rumble and pointed at Roman as if to say he would go after his title, the fans were excited. But a few days after it, Cody chose to let The Rock fight with Roman at WrestleMania XL.

Cody claimed that he would go after Roman Reigns at SummerSlam later in the year. It led to the internet and offline movement of "We Want Cody". The fans wanted a Cody vs Roman rematch over the much anticipated Roman vs The Rock match for the Head of the Table.

Reasons why Cody Rhodes winning was the right call

Eventually, WWE listened to the fans and made Cody vs Roman a reality. Rhodes finishing his story is now a part of history. Now we have a champion who is out there in the arena showing up every week and defending the title every PLE or two. Sometimes he has defended the title even on Smackdown.

If Roman vs The Rock took place, it could have been a bad decision. Because Roman's story was stale and he was about to be an irregular champion because The Rock would return to filming 'The Smashing Machine', the blue brand would have had an inactive champion.

Handing over the title to Cody was the best decision as it also led to Roman turning face. The Tribal Chief got the much-needed time to return as the face. While Cody has not been booked as well as one would have liked, he shows up every week and ensures the value of the belt is maintained.
