John Cena's heel turn received a good reception from the fans. While many haven't been happy about the fact that John and Cody haven't confronted each other on the mic yet, Cena's heel turn has been the hottest story in the company currently. Many are wondering if Cena is the heel in the story or the fans themselves.

John turned heel against Cody Rhodes after winning the Elimination Chamber. He sold his soul to The Rock and turned against the fans. Since then, John said everything he had to say about his relationship with the fans and nothing about Cody or The Final Boss. It has meant that the major reason behind Cena's heel turn is the fans.

For years, when Cena was at his prime in the Ruthless Aggression Era and the PG Era, fans did not treat him well. For every major win of the Leader of the Cenation Army, fans started to hate him for getting a lot of wins. Despite doing everything he could, fans did not appreciate him enough.

How is John Cena's heel turn justified?

There are instances where fans crossed their limits and did not consider the human side of Cena. One such instance was John's tricep injury, which led to him being out of action for a few months. When John informed them about it, fans cheered and chanted "Yes".

Looking back at such segments, it is evident that the fans were the true heels in every sense. Cena was not wrong when he claimed to be in a toxic relationship for years. Cena was booed out of the arena, received chants of "Cena sucks", "You can't wrestle", and did not utter a word against anyone.

But Cena sensed an opportunity for the first time in his career when Cody rejected the Rock's offer at the Elimination Chamber. As the Great One signaled Cena to take on Cody, he wasted no time. In reality, Cena's heel turn has everything to do with the fans and little to do with Cody and The Rock.
