The Shield was the topmost faction of WWE in the period 2012-14. The likes of Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Dean Ambrose came out in tactical vests through the stands amongst the crowd and became one among them. When the time came, they had to go solo and be a box-office attraction themselves. It is worth wondering what would've happened if the Shield never imploded.

The Shield consisted of Seth, Roman, and Dean each of who were extremely talented. The trio was a heel when they rocked Raw taking out some of the best wrestlers on the roster like Ryback, John Cena, Sheamus, and many others. With time, the crowd started to get behind them.

From 2012 to 2014, they remained a dominant faction. By 2014, they became too good individually to make an impact on filling seats all by themselves. Hence, the Shield got imploded when Seth Rollins betrayed Dean and Roman. The careers of each of Seth, Dean, and Roman skyrocketed right after it.

The advantages of the Shield's implosion

Roman Reigns was touted as the Big Dog and went on to become the company's biggest star for a decade. Seth was the best heel in his prime in 2014-19. Dean stayed in the company till 2019 and was amongst the best. The trio imploding was probably the easiest of decisions to be made.

Individually, they could fill the seats by attracting fans on their might. If they never imploded, WWE might have missed a massive opportunity. Whenever a faction is formed, its ultimate motive is to get the wrestlers individually capable enough to have a section of people following and rooting for them.

As characters, each of them are worth watching. If they were in the same faction, the screen time for them might have been restricted. But after the implosion, each of them carried a different roster themselves. They became so good that the PG Era was highly dependent on them to add the much-needed spice. Hence, the Shield's implosion was one of the best creative decisions.
