On the fifth anniversary of his father Rocky "Soulman" Johnson's passing, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson said on Wednesday night how much he regrets not making amends with him. After a "massive fight" over the phone, the 52-year-old third-generation wrestler said, "It wasn't good," and he stopped talking to the wrestling pioneer on Christmas Eve 2019.

In a video that was uploaded to Instagram Thursday morning, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson described how he lost his father on January 15, 2020, five years ago. "He died suddenly, just like that," he said, snapping his fingers. "And I didn't get a chance to say goodbye to him. And I woke up funky and then I realised that it was... just hitting me and heavy on my heart. Man, I just wish that I could hug him one more time and kiss him on the cheek and look him in the eyes and say, 'We're good,'" Johnson posted a long video on Instagram.

A family member called Johnson just before he started filming the Netflix action movie Red Notice to tell him that Rocky passed away at the age of 75 in 2020 from a pulmonary embolism brought on by deep vein thrombosis at the Florida house he had purchased for him. The actor from Moana 2 was at a podium six days later, giving his father's eulogy.

Rocky Johnson became the first black champion in WWE

Although Dwayne did not elaborate on the details of their conflict, he referred to his father's prior run-ins with the police, which included a rape complaint in 1987 and accusations of misconduct and groping in 2000 while he was employed at the Pine Island Community Centre. After that, the 52-year-old WWE veteran turned his attention to advising his audience to make amends with their father figures. Even though it is difficult, he advised them to show their fathers some consideration and expressed his hope that they wouldn't end up experiencing his suffering.

Rocky Johnson was a successful athlete who won the NWA Television Championship twice and was the first Black Georgia Heavyweight Champion. By winning the World Tag Team Championship in 1983 with his partner Tony Atlas, he became the first black champion in WWE history. Rocky passed away at home at the age of 75 from a pulmonary embolism.
