Rey Fenix has joined the WWE officially. On WWE SmackDown's April 4th edition, Rey Fenix made his debut by facing Nathan Frazer in a singles match. Using a Mexican Muscle Buster, Fenix won the match. After months of fighting to get out of his contract, the former International and Lucha Underground Champion was released from AEW. The former AEW talent, who had a successful career on the indie circuit, makes his official Smackdown debut.
As the match starts Frazer grabs a wrist lock as they lock up, but Rey does the opposite. Rey kicks him away as Frazer swiftly turns around. Suddenly, both men stand up simultaneously. When Fenix pretends to kick, Frazer retreats. Frazer locks them in a side headlock as they tie up once more. He evades Rey, floats over in the corner, and kicks. After swinging through the ropes, Rey lands a backheel kick that spins. For another close count, he performs a jumping rana and a few other near falls.
Frazer gets whipped into the ropes by Rey's chop. After using a head-scissor to knock Rey to the ground, Frazer glides over and makes a suicide plunge. After recovering, Rey Fenix kicks Frazer from inside the ring and does a double jump twisting crossbody from the turnbuckles to the outside.
Despite Nathan Frazer's best efforts and his SmackDown debut, Rey Fenix continued to kick out and refused to stay down for a pinfall. The audience was astonished by the near collapse when Fenix executed a Firedriver and a Goodbye Amigos Kick flawlessly.
