WWE has witnessed some revolutionary moments right from the beginning. While many of them changed the company for good, some of them were not highly impactful. There were other instances where the company had a great opportunity to gain something massive but the plans were scrapped either due to the fear of the owner or due to the things not coming together. Many such moments have turned out to be the 'What ifs' of WWE.
Some of them could have turned out to have changed the company for good while others could not have made any difference. To date, the fans remember such moments and wonder what could have happened if something like it was pulled off. While these are only imaginary incidents and have never happened, it is worth wondering what could have potentially transpired if these incidents indeed took place. 5. What if the Women's revolution never took place?
The Women's Revolution in the company took place majorly because the Four Horsewomen came of age to become stars themselves. The likes of Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Bayley, and Sasha Banks turned the company for good. Before them, the Women's division did not have a huge substance in terms of the in-ring talent and the story involved.
These women ensured that the women's division got a proper story and the wrestlers got better in terms of their in-ring skills. They made the women's division what it is today. Without their emergence, the Women's division could have remained the one where the wrestlers were treated more like glam dolls rather than wrestlers who could give their everything in the ring.
4. What if The Undertaker vs Sting was booked?
The Undertaker and Sting are two of the biggest legends of Wrestlign whose character did all the talking. Their dream match was set to take place in 2015 the period when Sting made a brief appearance in the company. While neither of them was at the prime of their careers, the fans were still excited to see them potentially having a match at WrestleMania.
Their match almost became a reality. However, the fear and risks involved with it probably stopped Vince McMahon and Co from going against the plan. Neither of them being at their best in-ring shape meant that there were fears of it being an underwhelming match. However, the fans were invested in the feud sheerly due to the story and the character development.
3. What if Seth Rollins didn't betray the Shield?
The Shield was one of the most dominant forces in WWE in the 2010s. During their period, the likes of Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, and Dean Ambrose accomplished the purpose of the formation of the faction in the first place. By 2014, each of them was capable of delivering as solo wrestlers. Hence, the implosion of the faction made sense. The fans, however, wished to see them united.
If The Shield never exploded, if Seth Rollins never betrayed Roman and Dean, there was a good chance of WWE missing out on a lot of things. There could never be a Rising star like Seth or the 'Big Dog' like Roman. One might have never been able to see the Visionary or the Tribal Chief and several other great gimmicks. Hence, the implosion of the Shield was the right decision.
2. What if the Montreal Screw job never happened?
The Montreal Screw Job from the 1997 Survivor Series is regarded by many as one of the most controversial moments in the history of the company. As Bret Hart was not cool with dropping the title to Shawn Michaels and Vince McMahon was not willing to have the world champion leave the company, the incident occurred where Bret was forcefully brought down.
While many have cursed Vince for what he did over the years, the end of Bret's era led to the beginning of the exciting Attitude Era. New faces like The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Kurt Angle, Triple H, and many others emerged in the period. The Attitude Era probably was the peak of the company and witnessed sensational stories. If Bret wasn't screwed, it couldn't have led to the Attitude Era.
1. What if John Cena turned heel?
John Cena has been arguably the biggest babyface the company has ever seen. There might not be a better wrestler in the company with a 'good character'. The fact that the kids might have never liked to see him going bad leading to the loss of merchandise meant Cena never turned heel in the PG Era and beyond. However, having Cena turned heel could have been a pathbreaking move.
Imagine Cena being a heel in the story against The Rock in 2012. Imagine him being the bad guy in the story against Daniel Bryan. Or imagine him playing the negative character against Brock Lesnar in 2014. One could not imagine how dominant Cena could have been as a heel with the support of the company. There could've been other scenarios which would have cemented the spot of Cena as an amazing heel.
