The Great Khali had a Punjabi prison match with Batista in October 2007. It was to determine the World Heavyweight Champion. The Indian wrestler dominated the match for the most part and seemed the favorite to win the bout. However, Batista made use of his fitness and game awareness to claim a thrilling win to become the world champion.
Khali and Batista had a feud with each other when both of them were at their prime in the Ruthless Aggression Era. The world title was on the line and Khali got a chance to fight it in the familiar conditions. Having wrestled a lot in the Punjabi prison, many deemed Khali to be the favorite to win the title.

For the most part, it seemed so, as The Great Khali was all over the star wrestler. He did not give anything to the former Evolution member in the match. It seemed like a one-sided battle as Khali tossed Batista all over the bamboo canes. The fans booed the mighty wrestler for his act.
Batista beats the Great Khali in the Punjabi Prison match
The WWE Hall of Famer came up with his iconic chops and headbutts. Batista seemed to be done and dusted and Khali went to climb up the prison. The only way to win the match was to climb both the cages. A Punjabi prison has two cages, one exactly on the ring while the other a few meters away from it.
Batista was unconscious and Khali started to climb the cage. However, the physical inability of the mighty wrestler ensured that Batista had some time to recover himself. By the time he could get up, the Indian wrestler had already stepped down from one cage.
All Khali had to do was to get out of the second cage. Batista steadily started to make a climb towards the first cage. As Khali was about to jump from the top of the second cage, Batista took a huge leap towards the second cage. Before Khali could get down, Batista got down and claimed a win.
