A recent social media post by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson could have unintentionally disclosed more than just his attempts to solve puzzles. WWE fans pointed out the obvious when Johnson posted a video of himself solving a Rubik's Cube on Instagram: he was wearing a New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) t-shirt.
After NJPW's official Instagram account recognized the look by posting a screenshot from Johnson's video, the dress decision received even more popularity. They explicitly referenced The Rock's famous catchphrase in their caption, "IFFFF YAAAAA SMELLLLL WHAT THE LION IS COOKING." WWE fans left wondering whether Johnson is referring to the Rubik's cube or whether there is a deeper message behind his initial post's description, "Slightly intellectually intimidated, but keeping faith alive."
Given The Rock's prominent administrative role in WWE and the fact that this encounter occurs only a few days before WrestleMania 41, it is very relevant. There could be more to this subtle gesture than first appears, and it could indicate a renewed partnership between WWE and NJPW, particularly as WWE pursues global growth under the TKO name.
The Rock to appear in WrestleMania
Even though The Rock left WWE in 2011, he continues to make appearances in some big events. One of the most notable appearances The Rock made was during WrestleMania 40, where he had a fight with Cody Rhodes. Since then, he has made many appearances in WWE. As WrestleMania 41 is almost approaching, he will make an appearance to face off against Cody Rhodes again. However, it is not yet officially announced, but he will attend the mega event of WWE.
Although he did spark rumors at the Elimination Chamber earlier this year, The Final Boss hasn't been seen since. His narrative connections to former "Tribal Chief" Reigns and current Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes are still strong. The Rock hasn't been promoted by WWE this year, but there's a chance he may return with the rumors of John Cena's farewell match versus Rhodes already looming.
