'It just never got brought back up' - Curtis Axel
The former Paul Heyman guy claimed that the creative team did not have any plans for him. "I didn’t part. The allegations with Vince and Johnny happened, so I was only part-time at the time," added Axel. Curtis said he was asked to stay at home and was never recalled after that.
"They said to me, ‘Hey, we can’t afford, just chill back home,’ and it just never got brought back up," Axel claimed. In NXT, Curtis was one of the top talents along with Seth Rollins during its early days. He and Seth were called onto the main roster. While Axel was managed by the Wiseman, Seth chose to lead The Shield.
For a few years, he got a good push in the main roster before he was overlooked. Many stopped caring about Axel. However, he was expected to get a similar push in 2022. Unfortunately, it could not become a reality. Fans felt Axel and he was one of the talents who was not used well by WWE.
