Rusev is set to return to WWE. Former AEW TNT Champion Miro, also known as Rusev, was in WWE headquarters in Connecticut on Wednesday, reportedly marking his return to the company. Since he was released from AEW earlier this year along with a host of other talented artists, including Rey Fenix, Ricky Starks, and Malakai Black, the move has been the subject of much speculation.
Ricky Starks has joined WWE NXT and he has changed the name to Ricky Saints, Fenix will make his WWE debut this month, and Black will likely return to the organisation soon as well. Miro was a member of the WWE from 2010 to 2020. He was formerly known as "Alexander Rusev" until his name was reduced to "Rusev." At WrestleMania 31, he fought John Cena in one of the most important matchups on the show. He was one of WWE's most successful United States Champions of his time. Eventually, it would turn out to be a futile endeavour.
In 2020, as part of a significant cost-cutting measure, he was released by the company, ending up in AEW, where he found early success as TNT Champion, but his run would be largely derailed due to injuries and not appearing on television. He bounced around the card during his WWE tenure, eventually teaming up with Aiden English and creating the popular "Rusev Day" gimmick. He last wrestled at AEW Worlds End 2023, where he faced current WWE talent Andrade.
C.J. Perry not returning to WWE
Meanwhile, there are also many reports circulating that he will make his WWE debut without his real wife, C.J. Perry, who was previously known as Lana. She also made her debut in AEW during AEW All Out in 2023. By sharing the story with Rusev, she also managed Andrade El Idolo. Later that year, in what were Miro, Andrade, and Perry's last performances in the organisation, Perry betrayed her client at Worlds End. In July 2024, Perry declared that she was leaving AEW.
