WATCH: Rey Mysterio looks like a carbon copy of Dominik Mysterio after removing his mask for first time

In the Ruthless Aggression Era, Rey Mysterio removed his mask for the first time. In a segment featuring Kevin Nash, Rey Mysterio Sr, and others, Rey took the courage and removed his mask for the first time. When Rey removed his mask, there were mixed reactions from the fans, commentators, and the wrestlers in the arena. It turned out to be one of the most controversial segments.

Fans during the years have criticized Vince McMahon for asking Rey to remove his mask. For the Lucha wrestlers mask is considered a symbol of pride. Hence, it met severe criticism from the fans. As Rey Sr helped his son to unmask, the fans were already booing. The commentators did not like what was happening in front of them either.

As Rey removed the mask, Kevin Nash had a bit of a laugh. The athletic wrestler looked similar to Dominik Mysterio in his younger days. There was a visible pain in his eyes and it was evident that he was not interested in removing his mask. In the years to come, Rey inspired many wrestlers to don masks like Dragon Lee, Sin Cara, Kalisto, and Axiom.

Rey and Dom have had a rollercoaster of a journey in WWE. It was Rey who introduced his son to the company. Dom started to hate his own father and turned against him at the Clash at the Castle in 2022. Since then, Dirty Dom has been a part of the Judgement Day. In the recent past, the father-son duo have wrestled against each other in the tag team and the mixed tag team matches.

At WrestleMania XL, Rey teamed up with Andrade and beat Dirty Dom and Santos Escobar. A few months ago on Raw, Dom got the revenge as Liv Morgan helped him beat his father in a mixed tag team match. There is a chance of Dom facing Rey in the upcoming days, potentially even in a PLE where they could finally have each other's back.
