Randy Orton tricked John Cena with a body double and delivered him an RKO on WWE SmackDown. The 17-time world champion blasted Randy in his promo before an attempted attack. As Cena delivered an Attitude Adjustment to Orton's body double, the Viper appeared out of nowhere and attacked him to end the night ahead of their match at WWE Backlash 2025.

In the Main Event of the night, Cena entered the arena and addressed the fans about his match against Randy in St Louis. He claimed it would be the end of the childhood of all fans who either grew up watching Cena and Orton or the ones who started following wrestling after their prime.

The world champion claimed what his tagline of 'Hustle, Loyalty, and Respect' meant in WWE. In the process, he took a dig at Randy's career and claimed him to be the GOAT of wasting opportunities, being mediocre, and not living up to his potential. While the crowd enjoyed his promo, many waited for Randy to respond.

As Cena raised his title, the fans cheered someone who attacked him from behind. Unlike the last few weeks, the leader of the Cenation Army was prepared for such a surprising attack. He hence turned around quickly and negated the person who wore a hoodie and had tattoos on his hands.

John thought it was Randy, felt he had the last laugh, and raised his title in front of the fans. That was when the 14-time world champion entered the ring and launched a surprise on his WWE Backlash opponent. He delivered an RKO out of nowhere and sent a message to Cena.

In all his promos since the Elimination Chamber 2025, Cena did not end the night on a high, and the opponents had the last laugh over him, which is a sign of Cena's win. As John won the title at WrestleMania, he could well defend his title at WWE Backlash 2025 in St Louis against Randy in his backyard.
