Kevin Owens rejects to face Cody Rhodes, but eventually gets his match at Bash in Berlin for Undisputed WWE Championship

Kevin Owens will be taking on Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at Bash in Berlin. KO initially rejected the offer from Cody as he felt himself undeserving of a title shot. However, as the American Nightmare and Nick Aldis threw difficult circumstances at him to deny the offer, Kevin had no choice but to accept a shot at the world title.

The Friday Night Smackdown kickstarted with Cody addressing his match at SummerSlam. He remembered all the sacrifices made by the people for him to stay in power. Cody thought of his next opponent at Bash in Berlin. Just when he was about to make a decision, in walked the Tonga brothers and Solo Sikoa. The latter threw a challenge at the American Nightmare.

The new Head of the Table claimed that he lost the title at SummerSlam only due to interference from Roman Reigns. Rhodes reminded him of the fact that he could not get the job done despite the support from the Tonga brothers and Jacob Fatu in the Bloodline Rules match. He was forced to retreat as Cody did not give him a rematch at Bash in Berlin.

Circumstances force Kevin Owens to accept title shot

As the trio went back to the locker room, KO who had come to assist Rhodes headed back too. But Cody stopped him and continued his conversation. He claimed that it was Kevin who deserved a shot at the world title. Kevin Owens felt he was undeserving of a chance as he was not in a good form losing many matches in the last year or so.

Backstage on Smackdown, Cody had a talk with Nick Aldis. He spoke about the match with Kevin before being interrupted by the man himself. Owens asked to look at the locker room to find an eligible candidate. Nick claimed to give a rematch to Roman. Owens was unhappy with the decision and was forced to accept the match at Bash in Berlin. He hoped to see Cody at the upcoming PLE.
