John Cena appeared on The Late Show, where he was asked the reason behind his retirement from WWE. The Leader of the Cenation Army felt his farewell tour leading up to the Night of Champions had been brilliant and claimed that the fans are slowly starting to realize that 2025 will be his last year as an active wrestler.

While Cena agreed that there is no realism in professional wrestling, he confirmed that December 2025 will be his last appearance in WWE as an active wrestler. He then jokingly said that some fans like him, some don't, while others hate him. Cena claimed that he is not as enthusiastic as he used to be.
"We are already halfway through the farewell tour. It's been pretty incredible, and I think we are getting now to a point that audiences are understanding that I will be done in December. There is no realism with professional wrestling and retirement, but I will absolutely be done by the end of the year," said Cena in the interview.

"I am 48, and I am just not as enthusiastic as I used to be. The experience has been great because each arena is different. Some audiences like me, some don't, and some even hate me, but it's great," the Never-seen-17 added in his statement.

John was happy to have an incredible experience in every arena he visited in his final year. Cena added that he had been ignoring the red flags of being counterproductive until he decided to embrace them. He claimed that it was indeed time for him to step aside and let young talents take over the promotion.
"It was just a battle with myself of how long I could ignore those red flags until it just became counterproductive. I still look good, and I feel good, but I think it is time for me to step aside and let the young talent step forward," Cena concluded in his statement.
