In his post on X, Cena regarded himself honored to have appeared on the American Nightmare's show. The veteran claimed it was good for him to have his first talk since retiring on Cody's show. He regarded to have immense love and respect for his final WrestleMania and SummerSlam opponent. He thanked Cody and WWE for being able to have a conversation.

"Honored that the first public words I have since retiring is with someone I love and respect. Thank you @CodyRhodes @WWE for a conversation that’s sure to spark polarizing conversation. I’d have it not other way. Hope you enjoy the listen and can’t wait to hear ‘the noise’," Cena wrote in his post on X.
John Cena and Cody Rhodes' rivalry in 2025
Cody and Cena had two one-on-one matches and tag team matches each in the latter's retirement tour. Their first match was at WrestleMania XL, which Cena won to claim his record 17th world title. At Money in the Bank, Cena teamed up with Logan Paul and took on Cody and Jey Uso.

As John was pinned by Rhodes, it led to their match at SummerSlam. It turned out to be one of the best matches of the year, which saw passing the torch moment of sorts, as Cena endorsed Cody. On SmackDown after SummerSlam, Cody and Cena teamed up to face Logan and Drew McIntyre.
