Ilja Dragunov survives Je'Von Evans scare on NXT's Open Challenge

Ilja Dragunov survived the scare of Je'Von Evans on NXT. The 'Czar of NXT' managed to beat an impressive Evans after throwing an Open Challenge to the entire roster. Earlier the night, Ava talked to Dragunov and asked the NXT champion to take on an opponent. Dragunov raised the stakes higher and asked the entire roster to not hesitate to challenge him. The confidence of the champion was great.

Ilja is set to defend his title over Trick Williams the next week. The winner of the match will be the holder of the prestigious title. But the loser will have to leave NXT. Ahead of the big challenge, Ilja got a good preparation in the form of the Open Challenge. It seemed like the entire roster was kicking to challenge the NXT Champion.

Almost the entire roster fought its way to face Dragunov. But it was Je'Von who jumped from nowhere, bypassed the entire roster, and started the challenge with Ilja. Both of them soon exchanged blows with each other. Evans was soon over among the fans. The 19-year-old made his NXT debut the last week and was highly impressive claiming a win on his very first match. 

Ilja Dragunov stands tall

Je'Von delivered some chops to the NXT Champion only to get return favor from the Czar of NXT. Dragunov delivered vicious chops to Evans. He then executed a super kick, only to receive the same from Evans. At one point, the youngster threatened to upset the NXT Champion with his impressive performance. But the class of Ilja was unmatched. 

He was successful in delivering a headbutt to set up for his finisher. It took no time for the NXT champion to deliver H bomb. In the process, Ilja Dragunov pinned Evans and claimed a win. The youngster certainly impressed the Czar of NXT. Evans received an appreciation after the match. Dragunov claimed that Je'Von put on a genuine challenge for him. It seems like sky is the only limit for the young blood in NXT.
