Drew McIntyre hugged Cody Rhodes on WWE Smackdown. Fans on social media claimed their character arcs to be similar to Homelander and Billy Butcher. The old video of their interaction in TNA went viral where Drew claimed he and Cody would meet each other in the future. The duo could fight for the world title in the upcoming months.

The night started with Cody addressing the fans about his match at Royal Rumble against Kevin Owens. The star wrestler said he was not medically cleared to take part in the match. However, he promised the fans to be fit by the time Royal Rumble approaches closer. Just when he was about to say something, the music of Drew hit.

Cody was surprised to see McIntyre in the arena during his segment. The Scottish Warrior stared at Cody for a few seconds and hugged him. Rhodes still could not believe why Drew hugged him. The star wrestler claimed that it was a token of gratitude from his side.

Will Cody Rhodes turn heel in the near future?

Drew claimed that Cody was responsible for the current era of WWE being its greatest in terms of talent and business models. Fans felt the segment reminded everyone of the characters like Homelander and Billy Butcher. There has been an opinion on Cody teasing a potential heel turn in the next few months.

Reports have claimed that Cody could be John Cena's last WrestleMania XL opponent. For that to happen, Cody must defend his title at Royal Rumble and Cena must be able to win either Men's Rumble or Men's Chamber match. Additionally, there is a need for a change in either Cody or Cena's characters.

While a babyface vs babyface match might certainly work with someone like Cena and Cody, a better way to make Cody more relevant might be to have him turn heel. Fans already relate him to Homelander's character. After the feud, there could be a revisit to the feud between Drew and Cody where the former could be treated like Billy Butcher.
