WWE is set to host the upcoming NXT Battleground at the UFC Apex. For the first time in the history of WWE and UFC, such a collaboration is happening. The two Wrestling companies of different styles came together as a unit in September last year. The collaboration of Mixed martial arts and the pro wrestling company has led to the formation of the TKO. Many legends have their stakes in it.
Since then, there have been crossovers between the two companies. However, this is the first major announcement of its kind where an entire event of a WWE roster will be taking place in the UFC Apex. The venue is usually used for small events with capacity varying from 500 to 1000 people. For the NXT Battleground, around 1000 people are expected to be in the arena.
NXT battleground was initially scheduled to take place at Enmarket Arena in Savannah, Georgia on the 26th of May. On the same day, AEW's PPV event, Double or Nothing, is scheduled to take place. But the relocation has happened due to undisclosed reasons. It will allow the fans of UFC to have a look at the skills of the pro wrestlers, which are not too familiar to them.
'We are excited to bring Battleground to this world-class production facility' - Shawn Michaels
Shawn Michaels confirmed the change of venue and date for the event. The Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative stated in a press conference that it is part of an experiment from WWE to try and see new frontiers to promote the NXT talents. He added that there is excitement among the members of the board to bring Battleground to the UFC Apex arena.
"We are always exploring new frontiers to showcase NXT and we are excited to bring Battleground to this world-class production facility in partnership with UFC," said Shawn Michaels in the interview. Some of the best talents from NXT like Trick Williams, Roxanne Perez, Carmelo Hayes, Oba Femi, Axiom, Nathan Frazer, and Ilja Dragunov might make it to the event. Their participation depends on the WWE draft which is set to happen later this week.
