Goldberg was in an interview recently where he was asked about his retirement match. In the last few months, there have been a lot of talks about his potential retirement from the company and the wrestlers who could be his opponents in the match. Goldberg opend up on it in the interview and felt he had no idea what to expect from the match.

The former WWE Champion said that he had not even thought about it for a couple of seconds. He claimed it to be a transparent answer. "Man, I’ll be honest with you. I have no idea. I haven’t even thought about it for two seconds, and that’s a fully 100% transparent answer. I have no idea," said Goldberg in the interview. He spoke about a wrestler who was ideal as an opponent.

Goldberg claimed he was thinking about Sting as his final opponent. But things did not pan out the way he expected. Earlier this year, Sting had his last career match on AEW and announced retirement. However, the record streak holder was unsure of its possibilities, as he was a WWE star and Sting was in AEW. He felt it was better not to disrupt the combination.

Goldberg's take on retirement match with Sting

"I was trying to shuffle it to where it was Sting. Over the past couple of years with his retirement, but I didn’t want to take away from Sting and his whole deal," added Goldberg. His last appearance on WWE was in the Elimination Chamber 2022 where he went for the Universal Championship against Roman Reigns but could not win it.

The star wrestler further claimed that he did not have a say on the match against Sting as he felt himself to be undeserving. Goldberg concluded saying that there was no option to have a match with Sting. "I have no business being anywhere near that because I don’t deserve to be. It’s all about him, and therefore he wasn’t an option because of that," asserted Goldberg on his reirement match.
