The absence of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was one of the main complaints from the ending of Night Two in Las Vegas, and some WWE fans at WrestleMania 41 really missed him. John Cena defeated Cody Rhodes in the main event to win the Undisputed WWE Championship, setting a new record of 17 world titles. The Final Boss was absent from Nevada and the US mainland, even though he had a helping hand in Cena turning heel.
As the story progressed toward this bout, Rock had been instrumental in persuading Cody Rhodes to sell his soul to the Final Boss and become 'his champion'. This incident happened on SmackDown one week before the Elimination Chamber PLE in Toronto. From his native Hawaiian islands, DJ live-streamed his appearance on The Pat McAfee Show and revealed the reason why he did not appear at WrestleMania 41.
“ There are other commitments that I have, and I need to make sure I'm not overstepping and leaning over on our skis too much here. Why get involved in the finish when the spotlight should just be on, in my opinion, John, 17, heel champion? What does 2025 look like if this man is saying he's going to ruin professional wrestling? We'll go back to it. We'll go back to the soul. I think the final boss work is done," The Rock said.
John Cena created history at WrestleMania 41
However, he eventually left WrestleMania after Cena's heel flip because he didn't think. WrestleMania 41 saw heel turn Cena defeat Cody Rhodes in the main event and win the 17th WWE title, making history. It's unclear if fans will see The Final Boss return to WWE or if his in-ring history is over, given his absence at WrestleMania 41 and his statements implying closure.
